The film starts with poachers attacking a group of gorillas. Animal Preservationists fight against poachers, which ends with a gorilla and a young girl her mother is dead. In the melee, a particularly large gorilla baby attacks by bounty hunters and bites his thumb and forefinger from. The films immediately passes in the future and the young girl has to Charlize Theron and the gorilla has become 15 'tall and weighs 2000 Pounds. The two are best friends who play together. If poachers reappear, a representative (Bill Paxton) of a California Wildlife Refuge convinced them to transfer the gorilla she has named Joe Young to the refuge. Of course, once the former hunter is looking for revenge. Terrorize the gorilla, without his human handlers know that the gorilla goes on a Rampage in Los Angeles.

I can remember, albeit not entirely clear that the original version of 1949 "Mighty Joe Young" in the theater, when I Young was. The 1998 remake is better for me in every respect. The special effects, the giant gorilla among people, or the hunt for trucks, is very realistic, as is the soundtrack.
The story begins in the jungle, where gorilla-hunter "Strasser" shoots and kills the baby gorilla's mom, and Jill Young (Carlize Theron) mom is also killed. Jill and the young gorilla become friends, and they grow in virtual anonymity. In a stroke of good casting for a very small part, Linda Purl, the mother plays, looks much like Theron.
Many years later, when Paxton's character shows, hunting wild species for blood samples, the collection of a large cat enrages "Joe" and he jumps from the trees. This is a remarkable point in the film, because with a good sound system with subwoofer, the room literally shook. And it remains as in the case lorry Joe.
Jill is convinced that Joe is safe when transported to Los Angeles with his own habitat, and she agrees. Strasser shows the evil that enrages Joe who breaks out and runs. In the sweet climax, he rises high Ferris wheel to rescue a small child, survived and eventually into an appropriate place for his safety.
Most of the charm of this film is in the first half, in the jungle, with Joe and Jill grow up, then the discovery of the adult Joe. In a small part as the hunt organizer Paxton HiRes, NUVEEN Andrews is just great, his extradition, his body language. And, of course, Charlize Theron, which reminds me so much of my daughter, Karen, is simply perfect as Joe's caretaker and friend.
